Is "Gildokht" becoming a competitor to historical TV series

According to the cultural reporter of Tasnim News Agency, for some time now, the series being aired on domestic television networks have stories set in historical settings

and they have received a relatively high level of audience interest. From "Khatoun" to "Neighbors" and even "The Hidden Women Network"! Generally, worldwide, there is a positive perspective towards watching historical films and their impact.

What is happening in Iranian cinema, especially in the realm of domestic television and online platforms, aligns perfectly with global experiences. In Iran, the production of historical series, both on television and domestic networks, has been well received. Many critics and experts emphasize the point by repeatedly watching "Mokhtarnameh" and other historical works that IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) should consider making enduring and historical pieces that have many fans.

While viewers eagerly await "Neighbors" on Fridays, there are also a few episodes on Thursdays and Fridays that attract audiences to "Gildokht." This genre has been absent from the national media for some time, and with the narration of Majid Esmaili and the performances of Saeed Changizian, Ramtin Khodapenahei, and Mahmoud Pakniyat, it promises good days for this TV series. Of course, we still have a long way to go before we can judge whether "Gildokht" can compete with "Neighbors" or historical television series!

The main character of the series is a girl named Gelnar (played by Mitra Rafi). She is the daughter of Taqi Khan (Pakneiat) who, along with her family, has migrated from Tehran to their properties in the north five years ago.

One of the gunmen in the Khan's household, named Ismail (Reza Akbarpour), who is a handsome and well-educated young man, falls in love with Gelnar and writes romantic letters to her. Gelnar, who reciprocates Ismail's affection, dresses in kitchen aprons and goes to the field to meet and talk with him.

However, during their conversation, the chief of the Khan's gunmen sees them and reports it to Khan. Khan orders Ismail to be arrested and tortured to make Gelnar forget her love. Apparently, Khan is forced, due to certain interests, to marry his daughter to one of the members of the Qajar dynasty.

Mahmoud Pakneiat can be called the recorder of these characters' performances on television. He appears on TV on Fridays and Saturdays with "Gildokht" and the role of Taqi Khan. This television series deals with a historical theme in the Naserian and Qajar periods. The filming of this series took place in Tehran and the north, and some of this work remains.

In "Gildokht," actors such as Habib Dehghannasab, Jafar Dehghani, Ramtin Khodapanahi, Parioush Nazariyeh, and Saeed Changizian play roles. Pakneiat talks about his presence in this TV series: I play the role of a nobleman who is a positive character and belongs to those in the treasury court. He has different troubles and hardships in the story, which is interesting.
